The story
Varun is sixteen when he first sees Meera Rao across the aisle of Class X-A. This is that first love, followed for fourteen years: down the roads they didn’t choose, along parallel lines in one city, to Tiruvanmiyur and the service road. Along the way he writes the songs he can’t say out loud. The book is honest about how it ends, and about the cost of deciding things on someone else’s behalf.
The author
Varun Rudran is a composer, lyricist and sound engineer from Chennai. The Suspended Chord, a true story told as a novel with four original songs, is his first book.
